Email notifications for orders and payments

Learn how email notifications for orders and payments work in the Brikl platform.

Customers and merchants will receive email notifications about new orders and changes in payment status.

The notifications might differ depending on the payment method used. Let's look at what happens when a customer places an order and chooses to make a manual or Stripe payment.

Manual payment

Manual payments use Bank Transfer or Purchase Order as payment methods. You can learn more about payment methods in Setting up payment gateways and methods.

Once a customer places an order and opts for a manual payment:

  • The customer receives an order confirmation email.
  • The merchant receives an email notification about the new order.

When you update the payment status to PAID:

  • The customer receives a payment confirmation email.

☝️ When receiving manual payments, you will need to manually update the payment status in Orders > (Select Order). More info on How to view and manage orders.

Stripe payment

The Brikl platform relies on Stripe's technology to manage all online payments.

Stripe payments use Credit Card, Ideal, Sofort, or Bancontact as payment methods. You can learn more about payment methods in Setting up payment gateways and methods.

Once a customer places an order and opts for a Stripe payment:

  • The customer receives an order confirmation email.

If the payment fails:

  • The customer receives an email about the failed payment with a link to the order summary page, where the customer can retry the payment.

When Stripe updates the payment status to PAID:

  • The customer receives a payment confirmation email.
