Step 1: Select the Content Type

First, select the desired content type. There are five options: Page, MicroStore, Product, Cart, and Checkout. Let's take a look at each of them.

Page

Page is a standalone, multiple-purpose page. It's the content type that allows you to build a page from scratch using the Content Builder. This is the content type you must use to create your Storefront homepage.

Standard pages like About and Contact must also use this content type.

MicroStore

The MicroStore content type allows you to add text, images, and videos to your default MicroStore homepage.

Product

The Product content type enables you to add content such as text, images, and videos to your default product page layout.

Cart

The Cart content type allows you to add content such as text, images, and videos at the bottom of your default cart page layout.

Checkout

The Checkout content type allows you to add content such as text, images, and videos at the bottom of your default checkout page layout.

Step 2: Select the Sales Channel

Once you have selected the desired content type, you must assign it to a Sales Channel, that is, to a Storefront or MicroStore.

Select your Sales Channel and click the "Create" button.

Step 3: Enter the content settings

Different options will be available on the content settings page depending on the content type you selected in the previous step.

Cart, MicroStore, Product, and Checkout content types require just a page name.

The Page content type, though, has a set of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) configurations that deserve your attention:

  • SEO Details let you specify what users will see when your site is displayed in a search engine result like Google.
  • Social Share Image lets you select an image to display when someone shares your site on social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter.
  • Exclude this page? allows you to hide your page from search engines like Google.
  • Page Tags let you identify your Page with tags.

💡 If you have an SEO or Marketing specialist on your team, ask this person to fill in the SEO settings for your Page. They usually know how to optimize your page for search engines.

☝️ Note that you can quickly set your new Page as your storefront homepage by clicking the button "Set As Homepage" below the page name field. Learn more on How to create a homepage for your storefront.

Step 4: Build your content

After completing the content settings, it's time to work on your page content with the help of the Content Builder. Scroll up the page and click the "Next" button on the top-right side.
