Setting shipping rates for a MicroStore

Setting shipping rates is a great way to add a more personalized, localized dimension onsite for your customers.

Go to Dashboard > Sales Channels > MicroStores > Shipping.

You can set the shipping rates for a MicroStore, which will override the general shipping settings for your account. Read more about that here.

Our dynamic shipping rates feature enables you to use your carriers at your negotiated rate.

Shipping rates will adjust dynamically according to the total product weight in the customer’s cart, the address you’ll be shipping from, and your customer’s specified delivery address, all of which can be found in your account settings.

Weight rates for shipping can be set on a MicroStore level. This feature is only available in the US and Canada. 


How this feature works

To get started, you’ll need to set up the weights of your products.

  1. Go to the product menu on the dashboard.
  2. Select the product and scroll down to the Product Weight section.
  3. Enter the product weight and select the measurement unit.

☝ Product weights must be defined, or the shipping rate will default to zero. Need some help? Get in touch with your account manager, who’ll be happy to assist. 

Setting up carriers and shipping zones

Step 1

Learn more about setting up shipping zones and carriers . This step must be completed before shipping rates can be dynamically calculated.

Step 2

Once you’ve assigned your shipping method to your store (via menu > Shop Setting > Shipping) and ensured that the United States and Canada are specified as shipping zones, hit Create Shipping Method.

Step 3

Add details for shipping methods:

  • Turn on the toggle to activate the shipping method.
  • Select the rate type. There are two options available:
    • Flat rate: (default)
    • Carrier rate by weight: This option will calculate shipping according to product weight and address. Specify your carrier and supply a minimum order value. Only once this minimum order value is reached will your item be shipped.

Step 4

Additionally, extra fees can be applied to shipping. This can be a fixed amount or a percentage.

Step 5

Create a shipping title and description. This will be visible to your customers on the checkout page. Set your shipping address as the destination your product will be shipped from.

After your customer fills in their address, the shipping method and the shipping rate, title, and description will be displayed. The order will be charged accordingly.

Base and additional item rates

In the dashboard > shipping settings, you can now set a base shipping fee and an additional item fee.

How this feature works

On the dashboard:

  1. Go to Settings > Shipping.

  2. Click on ‘Create Method.’
  3. Turn on the ‘This Method is Active’ switch.

  4. Name your shipping method and add a description if you want.
  5. Put in the base fee.
  6. Put in the additional fee.
  7. Click ‘Save’.

To use this in a MicroStore:

  1. Go to the Microstore, then the Shipping tab.
  2. Under ‘Shipping Configurations’, pick ‘Use the default settings from the shop page’.


In the MicroStore:

  1. Go to the Shipping Tab.

  2. Under ‘Shipping Configurations’, pick ‘Custom settings for this store’.
  3. Click ‘Create Method’.

  5. Name your method and maybe add a description.
  6. Put in the base fee.
  7. Put in the additional fee.
  8. Click ‘Save’.

Percentage-Based Shipping Fees

In the dashboard's shipping settings, you can now set a shipping fee based on a percentage of the cart's total price. The same can be done in the MicroStore's shipping settings.

In the dashboard:

  1. Go to Settings, then choose the Shipping Tab.
  2. Click on 'Create Method.'
  3. Turn on 'This Method is Active'.
  4. Name your shipping method. You can also add a description if you like.
  5. Choose the percentage you want to charge for shipping.
  6. If you want, set a minimum order value for this shipping method to apply.

In the MicroStore:

  1. Go to the Shipping tab.

  2. Click 'Create Method'.

  4. Name your method. Adding a description is optional.
  5. Choose the percentage for shipping.
  6. You can set a minimum order value for this method if you wish.


Set Fees for Pick Up Locations

You can set a fee for each pick-up location. Each location can have its own fee. Once a pick-up location is chosen in the cart, this fee is the shipping fee.

How this feature works 

  1. Go to the Microstore >  "Delivery and Pick Up Settings".

  2. Choose either "Pick Up" or "Allow Both."
  3. In the address book, you can either add a new address or change an existing one by clicking 'edit.'
  4. When the pop-up shows, decide on the shipping rate.
  5. This rate becomes the shipping fee for your customer.
